Day 27

Friday 12th September

Hunter barely slept at all today! Maybe 2 hrs the whole day, then from about 8:30 until 11. Then he was up until 3am!! He is staying awake more and more during the day. Although some of it is because he fights going to sleep tooth and nail!! And gets so overtired and cranky.

Chillin' on the big bed!

It's a bit dark...but it's comfy

Sssshh. Dad is sleeping!

Still sleeping!!

Tummy time on the playmat!

More tummy time

Day 26

Thursday 11th September

Today we had our first Mothers Group meeting at the Maternal Health Centre. Turned out to be quite a big group - 13 of us. Apparently it's the largest group they've ever run there. I had no idea so many women in Lara would've recently had babies! Today was just an introduction day where we basically introduced ourselves and our babies and answered a few questions and then broke off into little groups and discussed some topics that they gave us. Hunter was pretty good, he basically slept through the whole thing. He was in his carrier for about the first hour, then he started to stir so I got him out and held him in my arms and he slept there for the rest. He is the youngest baby by a few weeks, most of them seem to be around 8-9 weeks. Everyone kept saying how small he was, and that they remembered when their babies were that little! They also told us about a Mums and Bubs exercise class that is run by the Community Centre, so I think I will sign up for that too! It sounds fun... your baby stays with you while you do the class and I think they're even used/can take part in some of the exercises. I think a few of the other mums were planning to sign up for that too. Next week the topic is sleeping and settling, which should be good for me. Hunter sleeps, but most of the time it's Rob that gets him off to sleep! Which could be a problem when he goes back to work on Monday week!

Todays pics are Hunter chilling with Rob awaiting his last feed of the night...and a couple that Rob and I took because we thought he looked cute in the basket of his clean washing... lol. I don't think he found it as amusing as we did though....

Day 25

Wednesday 10th September

In which Hunter meets the puppies! Today was a beautiful day! I got up with Hunter at 9am and waited patiently for Rob to get out of bed... (11am, he finally surfaced). I said straight away that we were going for a walk! The weather had been so ordinary, with lots of grey clouds and bouts of rain, so to see a spring day was nice. Hunter was asleep til 1, but after his feed we popped him in the pram and set off for the shops. I had a card to mail and we bought the papers, Tabform and some hot chips for lunch. Ran into Paula as well, but Daisy was at home snoozing with Matt. I thought that Hunter might fall asleep in the pram but no... he stayed wide eyed and looking around the whole walk. All up we were gone over an hour!

After we got back Rob was hanging out some washing and the dogs were milling around so I thought I would take Hunter out for a proper introduction!

Gizmo says hello!

Hunter's not quite sure... maybe it's the cold, wet nose!

What's going on here? Power wanders over for his introduction

And backs off when Hunter lets out a wail... lol

Back for a second sniff...

Smile... :)

Hmmm.. maybe these furries aren't so bad after all...

Yep, they seem ok

Do you think he likes us Power?

Rolly comes barrelling in to suss out Hunter... in her usual graceful way!

Eye to Eye...

I was very proud of the dogs.. they were very gentle and careful, they didn't go near his face and even Rolly, who is so boisterous, was very subdued. She didn't come in at a hundred miles an hour, trying to bounce around and jump all over me like she usually does, nor did she go straight for the face-lick, like she usually does! Power is always very cautious, but it was priceless when he backed off because Hunter let out a cry... if a dog could look worried, Power would've looked worried! I can't wait for the day where Hunter is out there running around with them.

Day 24

Tuesday 9th September

Hunter had a very good day today ~ almost too good! He slept pretty much the whole day, waking only for feeds so when we got to about 9pm at night, he cracked it big time and nothing would placate him. He was screaming and didn't want to be held this way, didn't want to be cuddled that way, didn't want to be in his rocker, didn't want to be on his playmat, didn't want to be put over your shoulder, didn't want to be cradled. He just screamed...and he was getting himself so upset. So Rob thought it might be a good time to test the car seat theory. So at 10:30pm after a long time of hysterical screaming and sobbing, we strapped him into the car seat and took a drive out around the backstreets of Little River. He was probably asleep before we got out of our street... it was hard to tell, but he didn't make a peep the whole time we were in the car. We got back home about 11pm and the only bad thing is that it's really hard to get him out of the seat without waking him. I got him into his bassinette but of course he was awake 5-10 mins later and getting upset again, so into the shower with Rob he went - Calm Down tactic #2. That worked, and he had his massage, hung on until about 11:50 for a feed (I fed him 10 mins early as he was getting upset again and I didn't want to give him 10 minutes to get hysterical before feeding him, as he'd probably just vomit it all up again). After his feed he was good as gold.. in bed by 12:45 and slept til 4:45.

Piccies are from an earlier in the day time on his playmat... when he was quite content to be there.

Day 22

Sunday 7th September

In which Mum flies solo!!

Yep, today was my first day "alone" with Hunter! Rob had to fly to Sydney to tape the Catching Pen as it was the 10th Anniversary special and the Melbourne studio was being used, so they flew him up to the pretty city. He left just before 10 and Rochelle headed off to work about 10:30 so it was just me and the Chubba Bubba at home. I was pleasantly surprised... he was an angel! He had his feed early on, about 7 and stayed awake until the next one at about 11ish and then after that he went to sleep until nearly 2pm, then he had another feed and went to sleep until 6!! After he woke at 6 he had another bottle and then he stayed awake. Put him in his swing while I watched Outrageous Fortune on tv and he was happy in there for nearly the whole hour. Rob got home at nearly 9:30 as he'd had to get a taxi back from Tullamarine to Avalon. So nearly 12 hours and Hunter slept for 8 of them, lol. Probably lulled me into a false sense of security being so good... next time he'll be a little monster I'm sure! :-)

Today Hunter also went on his first grocery shop! He was pretty good... slept in his carrier for pretty much the whole time. He started to wake up as we were going through the checkout and got a bit upset but when he was back in the car he was quiet as a mouse the whole way home! He really does love travelling in the car.
